AMT Releases TracJet II Continuous-Forms Laser Printer

Camarillo, California - - - Advanced Matrix Technology, Inc., (AMT) has
released the AMT TracJet II continuous-forms laser printer, an enhanced
version of the TracJet printer. Like its predecessor, TracJet II provides
300 dpi laser printing at 16 pages per minute on continuous pin-fed paper.
To this, AMT has added three significant features: font cartridge support,
variable-length forms handling and user-installable memory options.

The AMT TracJet has always been compatible with Hewlett-Packard's Page
Control Language IV, the language of the HP LaserJet series II family of
printers. Now, the AMT TracJet can accept up to two HP-compatible font
cartridges or up to six AMT TwinJet "chaining" font cartridges. Recently
AMT introduced TwinJet font cartridges, which can be "chained" to other
TwinJet cartridges or to off-the-shelf HP font cartridges. "The user can
print a Font List at the touch of a button to view all of the available
fonts in the printer," said David Beardsley, AMT's Vice President of
Sales. "Now the TracJet printer can take advantage of the tremendous
library of fonts that are available for HP LaserJet printers."

The AMT TracJet II can print on forms from 1.5 to 33 inches with no paper
wastage when printing stops. "Most continuous-forms laser printers can
handle variable-length forms," Greg Larson, TracJet's Product Manager,
"but we've made changes to minimize, and in most cases eliminate, the
paper wastage that is common on competing printers." Due to its
straight-through paper path, the AMT TracJet II can print on a variety of
continuous-forms media, including labels, forms, and coated plastics.

The AMT TracJet II comes with two megabytes of random access memory (RAM)
for input buffer and storing downloaded soft fonts and macros. AMT also
offers user-installable memory add-on cards for the TracJet II with two,
four and six megabytes of RAM. This extra memory allows the printer to
queue up more data for printing and hold more soft fonts and macros.

Several features have been added to the TracJet II's front panel which are
not commonly found on the front panels of laser printers. Printing
features such as control of page layout, forms length, fonts, margins,
text lines and others can be controlled by the front panel while the user
sends straight ASCII data to the printer. Like the earlier TracJet, the
TracJet II comes with Centronics-compatible parallel and RS-232-C serial
interfaces.

Despite the enhancements, Advanced Matrix Technology has not raised the
price of the TracJet II. The list price remains $4,995, which is the same
price as the earlier model. AMT includes a one year, return-to-factory
warranty. AMT also offers a heavy-duty printer stand with a built-in paper
stacker for an additional $295. For more information, please contact AMT
