                      HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO STUNN!
                      ===========================

So, you want to send something in to STUNN! but don't know
what to write or how to go about it? Relax, it couldn't be
     simpler.

You don't have to be a master of symbolism or a budding
Shakespeare to appear in this mag. We welcome ALL
contributions - all stand an equally good chance of being
published. We're not bothered about poor spelling, grammatical
errors or unorthodox styles of writing - after all, editing's
our job. You write it and we'll look at it from the point of
view of the ideas it contains, not the way they're presented.

So, what do you want to write?

Well, you can write a letter, can't you? Well, why not start
by writing a letter to the nice chaps who provided you with
     this amazing magazine?

Do you know something about the computing world that we don't?
More to the point, do you know something that most readers
don't? How about an article on the subject?

Do you think you're good at explaining things to others? Can
you write simply and clearly? How about a tutorial piece?
Anything and everything is allowed, from "how to write batch
files" to "mapping the human brain with the aid of an Spectrum
     48K".

Opinion pieces are welcome too. But take note of this warning
please: we won't publish rabid or abusive pieces; you must
back up your claims with sound reasoning and/or evidence.
Also, please note that if you go too far, you may find a libel
case on your hands from the organisations involved. Other
than that, if you express your views as an opinion, you're
     pretty safe.

The editors of STUNN! pioneered the idea of publishing
fiction in disk magazines. We're keen to continue with this
policy and welcome your short stories. We're even willing to
publish longer efforts in installments, so feel free to send
us your masterpieces. Your stories can be on any subject -
they don't necessarily have to be centred on computers and
     computing.

Have you just bought a wonderful new piece of hardware that
you think is the ultimate peripheral? Or have you bought a
dog and want to confess to it? How about putting your
impressions on paper (or disk) by writing a review? Hardware,
software, books etc. - all are equally valid. As with opinion
pieces, please try to be fair to all involved by supporting
     your  arguments  (for  or against) with some sort of evidence;
facts, performance tests, advertising claims etc.

How about writing a program? Have a look at the HELP WANTED
section to see what the latest requirements are.
Alternatively, write in to us and we'll give you enough ideas
to keep you busy for months. Again, we don't care if you
program in Basic, Pascal or Assembler; if it works reasonably
     well, that's fine by us.

Having decided on what you want to do, how do you send it in
     to us?

Well, a print-out is fine but an ASCII file on disk would be
even better. Don't forget that you can send your contribution
to us on the disk you want your STUNN! magazine on, to save
on postage costs for all of us.

If you send a hard copy, please try to double-space it. This
will allow us to make any minor alterations we need before we
type it up. It's very nice if you can send both a hard copy
and an ASCII file - it makes our job much easier.

If you can't send us an ASCII file, you can always use any of
     the following formats:

Wordstar, Word, Galaxy (inc. GLite), Protext, First Word
     Plus, Word Perfect, WordCraft

Having said that, please stick to ASCII unless it's
impossible for you to do so.

Disk format can be 3.5" or 5.25", any capacity. We prefer
3.5" double sided because it allows us to use files on the
widest possible variety of machines (which range from Atari
STs, to Amstrad portables to 386's).

Don't forget that we can also handle any Atari ST disk and
file formats. If you've got access to an Atari, say, at home,
you might find it easier to send mateial in on a GEM disk.

PLEASE SET YOUR MARGINS TO 6 AND 67 WHEN PRODUCING A TEXT FILE
FOR PC STUNN! - this makes editing and "setting" easier for
us. It's not essential, but it helps.

Finally, just a brief word about program submissions. All
programs should be accompanied by a printed set of
instructions and should also have the instructions as a text
file on the program disk itself. Please make your programs
and manuals as simple as possible to use - remember we cater
for beginners just as much as we cater for techies.

You can see that we're very flexible about the way in which
submissions can be made and that we actively encourage all
readers to contribute to the magazine. We want STUNN! to be by
readers for readers - it's up to you to make that happen.

                               * * * * *

By the way, if writing for STUNN! doesn't appeal to you, how
     about this? ......
