Generic librarian MIDI.EXE & DOC downloaded from East Coast Midi 2/17/89 by Dave Nosek Compuserve 72117,325. The original author has offered this program as Shareware for all of us to use and I'm sure you'll use it if you have a Roland D10/20/110 and others. If you've looked around for a bulk load-dump librarian as I have, you know it's not easy to find one for bulk transfer with your D10 and others. Send this guy some money if you use it it sure is worth something to me! You'll find his name and address in the MIDI.TXT doc file enclosed. If you have a Roland D10 as I do, here is some help for bulk data transfer to and from your keyboard. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR KEYBOARD BEFORE YOU START LOADING NEW SOUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXECUTE THE MIDI.EXE FILE AND PRESS "P" FOR PATCH MODE TO TRANSMIT A FILE IE:D10TONES.WRK TO YOUR D10 ON D10: 1)Press DATA TRANSFER 2)Press DISPLAY down twice to "ONE-WAY BULK" 3)Press UPPER once "ONE-WAY DUMP SEL" 4)Press DISPLAY down once "SOUND-RHYTHM" 5)Press LOWER once 6)Press ENTER 7)Press WRITE 8)Press ENTER COMPUTER KEYBOARD 9)Press "T" on screen 10)Type in exact file name ie:D10TONES.WRK 11)Press ENTER (computer) 12)Screen will read "Do you want to send one block at a time?" answer NO 13)Your D10 is Loaded! 14)Press ESC on keyboard to clear your screen TO TRANSFER D10 PATCHES TO YOUR COMPUTER (Do this first) COMPUTER KEYBOARD 1)Press "R" receive 2)Enter a file name you choose ie:ORIGBANK.D10 3)Press ENTER 4)"Do you want to send a dump request?" answer NO D10 5)Press DATA TRANSFER 6)Press DISPLAY down twice "ONE-WAY BULK" 7)Press LOWER once "ONE-WAY DUMP SEL" 8)Press DISPLAY down once "SOUND-RHYTHM" 9)Press LOWER once "SOUND" 10)Press ENTER 11)You'll see flashing notes on your screen in brackets [ ] when finished press W to write the file to disk. 12)Press ESC (computer) to clear your screen 13)Guess what, you did it! Of course you must have a MPU401 or equivalent. I tried both bulk load and dumps several times and it works great for me. I can't guarantee this will work for you, but it should. And of course I am not liable for your use of this program or suggestions on how to use it. It does work! If it doesn't perhaps your D10's version of ROM is too low. I'm using Ver. 1.04. To find out what version of ROM you have power off, then hold down edit and data transfer buttons at the same time while you power up. I hope all of this reduces your learning curve a bit, and you will create new patches and upload them for all of us to enjoy! Dave Nosek alias THE PATCH HOG (WARNING CREATING NEW SOUNDS IS VERY ADDICTING DO SO AT THE RISK OF NOT COMPOSING SONGS MUCH ANYMORE!)
