Here's a collection of instruments to use in any of the zillion tracker programs available for the Atari, Amiga, IBM (why anybody would use one of -those- for music is beyond me), or any other machine capable of reproducing digitized sounds. Of course these can be played without a tracker program, but hearing a single note is pretty boring (although that in itself is a big accomplishment for an IBM ;-) Due to way sound samples are saved, the sounds might have to be 'shifted' to be made usable. Some programs save sounds w/ values between -128 and +128, othes save sounds with the values of 0 to 255. If a sample sounds loud and distorted then it will need to be shifted. Shifting a sample, in effect, adds or subtracts 128 from each byte of the sample. This can be done manually if you program any, or with STE_PLAY public domain sound tool. If your tracker program of choice allows for different input formats, then shifting is probably not needed. DigiComp allows for this via the Preferences menu. Any program that expects Amiga compatible sounds will load/play these samples, but they *will* sound shitty. If you are using TCB Tracker then these sounds will work 'out of the box'. If for some reason you cant shift these samples (ie. can't locate/use STE_PLAY, can't program, can't add, or are just plain lazy) then get in touch w/ me somehow and I'll hook you up. Unless, of course you happen to fall in the 'laziness' category: then don't bother me, for stupidity and laziness are your own curse and I won't encourage it in any way. Yes, if you can't add I'll help, that's an honest excuse (I guess), unlike laziness. Enjoy these samples, and if you make any decent MODs - *UPLOAD*!! For any questions/comments, I can be found on any of the ATARI BBS's within the 516 area code. ----STEVE DEITZ---- A.K.A Lucifer
