Greetings from REALM.... Special Thanks to: L.LESTER for the files and ideas! Jim Straus for XTERM2! This arc file contains the programs neccessary to download your first xmodem program, after that your home free. Your Arc should contain the following: READ_ME.TXT (if your not reading this...Hmm! never mind) PORT_ST.PRG (the main program that handles the process) PORT_ST.RSC (PORT_ST.PRG's GEM dialogue boxes) CHKSUM.COM (provides the checksum of bytes in a PF program) HEXBIN.COM (switchs a Hexadecimal code into Binary code) XTERM2.HEX (a terminal program for Xmodem and Text transfers) Make sure you place all the files in the same folder or the program may not work correctly. The program has no restrictions on resolution. It was designed in ST Medium and works in ST high although it doesn't look as organized. It should also work in TT Medium/High and anything along those lines. You need to provide the following items: A Portfolio with Serial Interface An ST or TT computer I wrote this program using GFA basic on a TT. It worked fine however it's possible it might not work on your computer. If not, please let me know. Null Modem Cable You can simple buy a standard 9 to 25pin cable (9 to 9pin if you have a TT) or build one using the following diagram. Signal DB9 line DB25 line (Portfolio) (ST) CD 1 NC 1 NC RD 2 ------- 2 TD 3 ------- 3 DTR -- 4 4 -- | | GND | 5 -- 5 -- | \ DSR -- 6 \ 6 -- \ | RTS -- 7 -- 7 | | | CTS -- 8 8 -- | RI 9 NC 20 -- The Good Part.......... This program will basically tell you what to do step by step. It loads 3 files into the Atari, sends them to the Portfolio then describes exactly what to do next. You need about 12K free on the Portfolio. First make sure that both Serial Ports are set to 2400 Baud. For some reason it doesn't work well at anything else. Use the XControl.ACC on the ST/TT and the SETUP box on the Portfolio. On my Portfolio the only way it would work was by turning the Portfolio off between each send. The directions will tell you what to check and what to do. Run the PORT_ST.PRG on your ST. The program should boot. There are three main boxes and three buttons. Everything should be pretty obvious. The Portfolio box tells you what to type on the Portfolio. The ST box tells you what to do on the ST. The Directions box gives additional help or explains some things. Push Next Step after completing the current step. I think you'll find it easy to use. When using REPEAT, it just returns to the previous step (only on the first three steps). You then complete that step as before. In other words after you do the step it may tell you to try again. You can then hit repeat and it returns to that step. It doesn't repeat the step upon selecting REPEAT just returns to the start of the previous step. If the program doesn't work correctly on your system I apologize for the wasted download time. Theres no way I can test every form of Atari computer. I've tested it on a TT and a 1040STf with TOS 1.4, both worked first try. If you have any suggestions or comments feel free to leave GEnie Email to REALM! Hope this helps you out! REALM PS. Pass it around freely amoungst yourselves!
