Copyright 1991 Sudden Incorporated, Rod Coleman Sudden View Error Messages Sudden View only has a few error messages. If you encounter one, maybe the following information will help. The Escape key will get you out of any of these errors except for the last three which are fatal; you will have to re-boot for these. You also may get standard GEM or TOS errors if you are opening or saving files. Refer to Atari documentation for these conditions. Error #, - Disk error opening file - Esc The error number indicates the error returned from TOS while attempting to open a file. You probably have a bad path name or TOS can't read your floppy disk. See TOS disk errors. Hit the Escape key to continue. Error #, - Disk error, save aborted - Esc This is the same as above, except it occurred during a Save operation. See TOS disk errors. Hit the Escape key to continue. Error #, - Disk full, save aborted - Esc This one also occurs during a Save operation. The error number indicates that the disk you are trying to Save to is full. Put in an empty formatted disk or change directories. Hit the Escape key to continue. Workspace is full! Clear a file - Esc These next three errors are from Sudden View's memory manager. This first one means there is not enough room left in your RAM workspace to do the operation that you are attempting. The operation has been aborted. If you were loading a file, the file load will be aborted and the RAM that it had begun using is returned to the workspace. Sudden View requires from 20 to 50 percent more RAM workspace than the file uses on disk; so though it seems that a file should fit, there may not be room for indexes. In any case, you will need to free up some space before you try the operation again. You can free up space by clearing unused files from the file buffers. Also, if you have just deleted or copied a large block, you can recover RAM workspace by filling the Paste buffer with twenty little items. Just double right click on twenty small fields and you will flush any large blocks out of the Paste buffer. If you have a personalized version of Sudden view, you might consider configuring a larger workspace size the next time you reboot your system. Fatal error - Not enough RAM memory This error should never occur, although I have a theory about a rare condition involving a very large paragraph (more than three pages long). If it does occur and you have better writing habits, write down all information on the Status Line and then please call 702-827-2996 or see the POLICY file. If you want to go on, you'll need to re-boot. Fatal error - attempting to access past EOF This is a general index error. It should only occur if you are trying to access lines which are past the end of file. You should never be able to get this error. If you do, write down all information on the Status Line and then please call 702-827-2996 or see the POLICY file. If you want to go on, you'll need to re-boot. Fatal Phase Error This is an error IN RAM object phasing. You should never be able to get this error, if you do, write down all information on the Status Line and then please call 702-827-2996 or see the POLICY file. If you want to go on, you'll need to re-boot.
