OCULTAR READ ME FILE -------------------- June 15, 1994 CAUTION ------- o DO NOT set up OCULTACC.ACC until you are CERTAIN that you know how it works and how to disable it. See the appropriate section in the file OCULTxxx.TXT. VERSION 3.02b INFO ------------------ Replace ANY 3.02a versions of OCULTxxx.PRG with the enclosed copy. If you are using Gribnif Software's GENEVA you should either use OCULTGEN.ACC/PRG, or run OCULTACC.ACC/PRG as a "single tasking" application. OCULTGEN.ACC must STILL be named OCULTACC.ACC if you wish for Ocultar to find it. See the main documentation for more details. VERSION 3.02a INFO ------------------ o Replace ANY 3.02 versions of OCULTxxx.PRG with the enclosed copy. o DO NOT use the enclosed copy of OCULTACC.ACC with ANY previous versions of Ocultar ! That's it ! BUG REPORTS ----------- If you think you have located a bug or if something does not function as expected... 1) Check the program's documentation thoroughly to see if what you are attempting IS an option within the program (and that that option is being implemented as described). 2) Make sure you do NOT have a corrupt copy of a file. 3) If you are STILL having problems, drop ME a note. Please state the EXACT conditions under which this occurs so that I may recreate it here. I know of several Shareware authors (myself included) who have received letters simply stating that "the program doesn't work right". That's a little vague :-) If you KNOW what the problem is, LET ME KNOW. Too many people assume an author will find it themselves. If this were true the program wouldn't have any problems, right ? Lastly, I'd like to thank all of those persons who were considerate enough to contact me personally about difficulties they were having. Your support and interest help to make Ocultar a better program ! IMPORTANT TOS INFORMATION ------------------------- Versions of TOS equal to, or later than, TOS 2.05, automatically reload desk accessories when a resolution switch is detected. If you have one of these later versions and attempt to switch resolutions from within the configuration part of Ocultar, the program will crash. Please see all sections concerning the TT & TOS 2.05+ if this is true. You can still use the feature it affects, but must do so under controlled conditions. DO NOT PACK THE EXECUTABLE FILES -------------------------------- o Do not squeeze, squish, pack (or similar) OCULTACC.ACC or OCULTxxx.PRG since these files need to write information to themselves. If you DO and then try to write to them, they will, in all likelihood, destroy themselves. MASTER DISK COPIES ------------------ o The copyright notices and current backdoor password will be removed from MASTER DISK copies. The backdoor for unregistered copies is Carl . GETTING IN THE FIRST TIME ------------------------- o Enter the password Password to gain access to both OCULTxxx.PRG and OCULTACC.ACC. You can change this later. CONTROL PANEL EXTENSIONS (CPX) ------------------------------ o Since the newer versions of XCONTROL.ACC are now said to save CPX status (active or inactive) to the configuration file (CONTROL.INF), you need merely copy the appropriate CONTROL.INF file to the root directory at bootup. This is done from the EXTRAS page. If you have multiple CONTROL.INF files, give them a new extender BEFORE storing them with your other Ocultar configuration files. This will prevent them from showing up in the DESKTOP/NEWDESK.INF selector (and keep you from inadvertently selecting a control panel file instead of a desktop information file). ie: CONTROL.CPE, TELECOMM.CEX .
