ALMAVIEW V1.1 October 23,1991 Written by Manfred Sierke Almaview is an auto-boot program for use in conjunction with the program St Almanac. It scans the files created by St Almanac at boot time and displays any special events or holidays scheluded for the current date. Setup Put Almaview in the 'AUTO' folder of your boot disk. The program reads the system clock for the correct date so it should run after an auto-booting date setting program to work properly. (There's lots of these around as well as folder sort programs to get auto programs to execute in a desired order). If you don't have a hard drive Almaview won't be as useful since you probably wouldn't have the almanac files on the same disk as your boot programs. However I could suggest that you make a copy of DATES.CAL from your almanac disk and place it on your boot disk so that the dates file can be read by Almaview whenever you turn on the computer After that's done run ALMANC21.PRG and make sure that the paths for DATES.CAL, ALMANAC.ALM and the path for the appointments files are set properly. Then select the 'Config Almaview' option from the main screen's menu bar. When you get the gem file selector locate the the program ALMAVIEW and press OK. The routine will rewrite ALMAVIEW.PRG to contain the paths and files you currently have set for St Almanac. Whenever you boot the computer it'll scan the almanac files and display whatever's on for that date. After displaying the data it'll wait 10 seconds before continuing. Pressing the help key will hold the display until another key is pressed. Pressing any other key will continue to the next program immediately. 'ALMAVIEW.PRG' is a short version of 'ALVIEWER' which does the same thing but also displays a special event for each date of the year and contains a date/time setting option.
