THE ULTIMATE VIRUS KILLER

 In  this  folder  you will find a virtually  complete  version  of  the 
"Ultimate Virus Killer", published by Douglas Communications and written 
by Richard Karsmakers. Run it by doubleclicking on the PRG file. It is a 
cut-down version 5.1 package except for a couple of differences:

1) You can only kill ONE virus during a session with this demo  version. 
Should  you want to kill e.g.  TWO viruses,  you will have to start  the 
program  twice,  etc.  In the real version you can kill as many  as  you 
want.
2) You can have a look through the list of harmless bootsectors that can 
be  repaired,  but  you cannot write them to your disks with  this  demo 
version.
3) There  is  no documentation with this demo version  of  the  program, 
except for this file.  The real version has several documentation files: 
A manual, a list of currently known viruses, and a version history file.
4) You  cannot update this demo version,  nor can you have  unrecognised 
bootsectors  analysed  by the author.  The real version can  be  updated 
virtually at cost price,  and any unrecognised bootsector can be sent in 
for analysis.
5) On-line help mode is not included.
6) Only the most popular viruses kan be killed!

 As you get this,  the demo version is hardly up-to-date any  more.  The 
real version will be as up-to-date as possible, and new versions will be 
released at regular intervals, 3 or 4 times a year.
 If  you  check under the "Info about V5.0D" button in  the  main  menu, 
you'll  find  the statistics of this demo version.  Those  of  the  real 
version will be higher.

- Support of (MEGA) STE, TT, Metados, Gemini, NeoDesk, KAOS-TOS/Desk.
- Automatic recognition of any drives/partitions attached.
- Automatic check of any whole drive/partition for link viruses.
- Context-sensitive on-line help mode.
- Works on color-as well as monochrome-systems, regardless of the amount 
   of memory found.
- Documentation  includes  a  full list of known  viruses  with  precise 
   description of symptoms.

 SHORT MANUAL

 The whole program kinda speaks for itself. All you need to know is that 
the whole thing is built up around a special kind of alert box that  can 
be used with the function keys (listed on the left of them),  the  mouse 
or your cursor keys (up and down).  Default ones are  highlighted,  non-
selectable ones are displayed in a light font style.

 This  demo  version  was coded during a night  of  listening  to  Black 
Sabbath,  Led Zeppelin, Napalm Death and Beethoven. At times, coding was 
interrupted for a bite off an apple cake my mum made (which was horrid), 
playing  "Gods"  a  bit  (the best game  this  side  of  "Lemmings")  or 
swallowing  the odd head-ache pill.  I suppose you're not interested  in 
all this, so...
