Screen Rasters>
 
The screen rasterisation can be bypassed in the new version so the best thing
to do is to leave the coloring of your graphic until you receive your upgrade.
Then you can turn off the dots that appear due to the raster gen. settings.
Either that or if you are impatient then set your raster density to something
ridiculously high like 150 lpcm.

TIFF Files>

Calamus SL imports TIFFs the same way any other program imports them only when
printing does the TIFF actually change. The 75 DPI image that the camera
produces is only 376x240 (subsequently  adjusted to 376x284 on download). The
Fotoman is rated at approx. 200 ASA. The images are useful at 5 x 3.5 at a 75
line screen. For a publication quality 150 line screen you will find that the 
ideal size would be 2.5 x 1.75 inches. 

Calamus SL uses supercells (see file) it is never recommended to use more than
1 supercell per line screen dot i.e. 75 lpi =75 dpi.

You absolutely need the col-sep module to print colour. So buy it. :-)

Odds and Ends>

1. The vertical text alignment feature does indeed work. This feature is
   designed to allow the text to fill a frame. Do not attempt to use this
   feature on two connected frames if you want the lines to match up,
   especially if one frame has less text than the other.

2. The extended memory field in the Statistics option, actually
   refers to TT ram. It doesn't indicate this memory status in the
   existing version, but it does in the updated version we will
   be releasing soon. It has nothing to do with
   the program flags. DO NOT USE PRGFLAGS ON SL UNDER ANY
   CIRCUMSTANCES AS IT WILL CAUSE REAL PROBLEMS (like crashes).

3. The Marbleized area is actually a Mezzotint Screen that was scanned
   using Touch-up by our friend Rolf Berger. The Mezzotint is commonly
   used in knockout areas on printed forms.

4. The dual monitor function is used for displaying page previews etc. on
   second monitors using either external drivers or modules for those
   monitors and graphics cards.

5. The Laserjet III printers should have a minimum of 2.5 Megs.

6. The Ad we produced was done entirely using SL and is about 6.5 Megs.
   We are now working on a brochure which currently sits at the 18.5 meg
   Mark. Ooooh.... I love 36 megs of Ram.
