Antiques, chandeliers, mirrors, brocades, and thick carpets adorn its foyer-style lobby, ornate salon, and TV lounge. Its irreverent bar was formerly an altar in a 17th-century Sicilian church, and two panels on the wall come from an 18th-century library. All 27 rooms and four suites have bath, TV, and floral wallpaper. The rooms with wraparound terrace are the most in demand because of their spectacular view, but if these are not available you can still enjoy breakfast on the terrace with the Eternal City as your backdrop. This candidate has no restaurant and almost no other public amenities, but its location and character make it a worthy choice.
