Hotel Imperial

Kärntner Ring 16
A1015 Vienna
Austria

Description
Undeniably, the Imperial reigns as the grandest hotel in Vienna, with its carved pediment reliefs on the outer façade and its lavish salons, palatial royal suites, and famous dining areas. Built in 1869, this Viennese landmark was originally the private residence of the Duke of Wuttemberg. Restored to its glory after a forced servitude as the Nazi headquarters during WWII, the hotel now attracts heads of state and headline musicians who come to perform at the nearby Staatsoper (State Opera House). Inside, the lobby is bordered on the right with a formal marble staircase, leading to public salons ornamented with statuary, royal portraits, chandeliers and rainbow hues of polished marble. The 128 rooms and 32 suites are richly decorated and have large marble bath, hair dryer, robes, satellite TV with English-language programming. Sophisticated Viennese and visitors alike linger at the Imperial Café, featuring live music.
