Kärntner Ring 1 A1010 Vienna Austria Description The hotel served as the U.S. military headquarters during the 1944–45 Occupation. Today the interior is fitted with modern luxuries such as huge fireplaces made of carved black marble and black-tiled bathrooms. The furnishings are exquisite, with Biedemeier antiques, statues, and paintings. There are 137 rooms and nine suites, some with open fireplace, private sauna, separate living-room area, balcony with view of the Ringstrasse; all are lavishly decorated, with bath, TV. Because of its proximity to the State Opera, the lower rooms and rooms facing the street aren't as quiet as those in the back.
