Palazzo Pitti

Brunelleschi designed this architectural boast for Luca Pitti, an adversary of the Medici family; in 1540 Cosimo Medici acquired the palace and the adjoining Boboli Garden. Crafted to harmonize with the palazzo, the magnificent gardens are adorned with fountains and sculpture. Incidentally, the Boboli is one of the best places for a picnic in the city. Today, the Pitti houses three museums: the Galleria d'Arte Moderna (Gallery of Modern Art), the Galleria Palatina (housing works by Raphael, Titian, Lippi, Veronese, and others), and the Museo degli Argenti (Silver Museum). In July and August, there are evening concerts in the palazzo courtyard.

Admission to the Palatina, the Modern Art Gallery, the Argenti, and the Boboli Garden are all charged separately.
