Description
A highly touted trattoria among Florentines, Sostanza has a rough, amusing atmosphere. Arrive early or late to avoid the peak of the throng; otherwise, it's a frenzy. Best bets are the breast of chicken, an enormous local beefsteak, and vegetable soup, served by Armani-clad (or inspired) waiters with lots of attitude. A popular stop located behind the Excelsior, but you gotta like sitting with strangers—all tables are communal. Lots of antique and crafts shops in the area.
