Catacombe di San Callisto

Before the Christian era, these deep, winding catacombs served as a burial place. The early Christians used them for meetings and hiding places. Originally, St. Cecilia was buried here, but her remains are now entombed at the church named after her on the Tiberine Island. Children might find these caves fun, but unless you're in the area or in the hibernating mode, they can be skipped.
