Although well away from the center, La Pergola, the hotel's classy rooftop restaurant, presents masterful gastronomy (nights only). The setting alone is worth the journey to this hilltop of overwhelming panoramic beauty. Dinner dancing is available and the evening can be carried on late into the dark velvet night. The last time I had scampi here, it was memorable. For a summer lunch, the poolside buffet (antipasto at US$17) is inventive and nicely done, both for cold and hot dishes. The sandwiches, however, are disastrous.
