Gallerie dell'Accademia

Housed in the former Convent and Church of Santa Maria della Carita, the Accademia is a cornucopia of painterly riches (about 500 of them) from the 14th through the 17th centuries. You'll find works by Bellini, Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, Canova, Tiepolo, and Vivarini, as well as those of lesser Venetian artists and foreign artists who settled here. It is so popular that for security reasons only 180 visitors are allowed in at the same time. You might have to wait, but it's well worth it.
