Ca' Pésaro/Galleria d'Arte Moderne (Ca' Pésaro/Gallery of Modern Art)

The baroque palazzo Ca' Pésaro, which faces onto the Grand Canal, was one of the masterworks of the great Venetian architect Baldassare Longhena. Its lavishly decorated 18th-century rooms now house the Galleria d'Arte Moderna, an eclectic collection of mostly Modernist works, including pieces by Klimt, Miró, Matisse, and Kandinsky, as well as lesser known Italian artists of the same period. In the adjoining Museo Orientale is a collection of Chinese and Japanese artifacts gathered by a 19th-century Venetian count.
