Special Travel Needs

While few places in Italy are easy for people with limited mobility, Venice presents special problems to people in wheelchairs, or to those who simply don't get around easily. There are no cars, so all travel is by boat or on foot. To get across canals, you'll need to climb over steep stair-stepped bridges. If you have mobility concerns, ask the information center for the map and guide called Veneziapertutti, put together by local architects as an aid for disabled travelers.
