MiniSpy v3.1
Go to homepage - http://come.to/minispy
MiniSpy is a small program that keeps track of the actions performed on your computer. You can configure the things it logs by using either a comprehensive wizard or a more straight-forward interface. These are the items you can keep track of:
The currently active program [title and classname]
The Master Task List
Free resources
Free disk space
The screen resolution and color depth [handy for getting a game's video mode]
The mouse position [coordinates, title, classname]
You can also get a detailed system summary at the beginning of each logfile.
The report covers: System information
Disk summary
Keyboard information
Display information
Windows information
Logon information
DOS information
MiniSpy writes all the items you selected to a logfile MSPYmmdd.LOG, where dd is the day and mm is the month. The recommended interval is 30 seconds, but you can go from 5 to 60 seconds - whichever works best for you.If you want to log everything without the user knowing, you can use a command line parameter: make a shortcut to MiniSpy.exe /autostart, that way the user will not see a window at all, but instead MiniSpy logs all settings you chose last time - in the background.
NOTE: it is possible for the user to close MiniSpy by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del and double-clicking MiniSpy.
Well, that's easy. If you have WinZip, simply open the Zipfile you downloaded and choose the Install option. If you use PKZip or another utility, unzip all files into a temporary directory and run INSTALL.EXEThe install program creates three shortcuts, with one referring to the Uninstall program. Simply start that program to uninstall MiniSpy.
Here's what you need for MiniSpy:
A standard Windows PC (even a 286 will do)See, anyone can run it!
Windows 95 or 98 - MiniSpy will launch in Win3.x but will fail to log
A bit of free disk space for the logfiles
The Visual Basic runtimes - VBRUN300.DLL and VB40032.DLL
A small dose of curiousity and/or paranoia
This list could grow, but I need your feed-back. Please report all bugs to kewl_dude666@hotmail.com
Bugs known so far: Some versions of Win98 don't seem to like VBRUN300.DLLIf you would like to see a feature added, then just mail it to me!
The program launches just fine in Win3.x, but as soon as you press Start logging, it crashes
The Logged for xxx-time is incorrect when you the log spans a period of more than one day.
That is: when midnight has passed since it started logging.
Hi, I'm kewl_dude - or at least that's my nickname ;-)
I was born July 17th 1981 [mail me on my birthday!]
I started programming in Visual Basic at the age of 14-15, and have made lots of programs ever since. I got a profound knowledge of DOS and Windows, so if you ever have problems, mail me at kewl_dude666@hotmail.comI also like playing Quake, GTA and StarCraft, and me and my friend Parsec have made a site about those games and ourselves. You should definitely come and take a look! You can always find the latest version of my programs right there, just head over to the download section. If you're into Visual Basic, go get the kewl_subs, a collection of simplified API calls and misc functions, eg. for sound playing and window manipulation.
