THE CRUSADES
There were seven crusades in all, stretching over approx. 200 years. The
most succesful was the first Crusade which retook Jerusalem and freed much
of the Holy Land from Islamic dominance. Subsequent Crusades were less
succesful and in the end Jersulam was lost to saladin. The final crusades
ended in ignominy.
