the NEW Blitz User Manual system
There are people on the
blitzlist
asking frequently for tutorials, docs, help, url's
and so on. Some of them find am*s help system wonderful. Acid software tried to close
this 'hole' with their helpsystem which appears while pressing the help-key in blitz
version 2.1. But the possibilities are limited. I agree that this help was designed
to run also under 1.3. (?) But these times have definitely gone !
What i aim is a flexible help-system, fully os-conform, localized and resizeable.
There will be a Manager allowing to select a doc, which then will be displayed. You
will be able to define extern viewers. That means, that AGuide or Ascii files can be
also displayed. So you have not to convert your old docks to the new format.
You'll ask why the format is html-complatible. Well, html ist the MOST known hypertext
language all over the world. It is also easy to learn. At least you can stick the man
into a webpage even lighter. There will be a FROMascii and FROMaguide coverter to this
format. But you are not ferced to convert anything. Well, but the Blitz Manual Project
-Format will look much nicer(it's html :).
Just compare this old
ascii one with the new forthcoming xbum-format.
The only argument against this system is, that the docs can be spreaded easily, and
users of blitz-pirate-copies can also use them and do well. That is absolutely true.
But the acid-help-system is also easy to copy. There is NO security check in it.
That is the same thing as giving the printed documentation to public...
At least xbum can be used to manage aguide or ascii docs, but i hope some people
will support it.
first beta releases will be availabe soon, so stay tuned...
dreamy =)
