 Developing Software
I have noticed a rather disturbing trend towards young people being
released from our schools (in Canada and the United States) without a true
ability to read the english language.
I would very much like to see the development of software, based on a
complete academic structure, which would be targetted towards teaching young
children how to read.
This "software curriculum" should include the now near-completely unused
method of "Phonics", which has been proven to work over many decades...if our
educators do not see fit to teach our children even basic fundamentals such
as these, it is high time that we took it upon ourselves to do so at home. I
believe that such software would not only be a boon to the Amiga and/or
educational market, but would also (and MOST importantly) assist our children
to learn, and to have fuller lives in the long run because of it.
From a purely economic standpoint, such a package would instantly lead to
further inroads into the Amiga educational market...which would, in turn,
lead to far greater potential within that market.

This language should support all system- features, so that every newcomer can easy develop his "Hello World" :) on his own Screen and Window without any requirements of other developing sytems that he(she) must buy otherwise. (please ignore my bad english...) I think, that everyone, who makes his first steps in programming with "Basic" and has good results, becomes taste for more... Name: John Lysfjord E-Mail: zleepy@cyberdude.com Subject: An easier way to make simple software One of the main reasons to why there are so much kids-software for the PC, is that they have Macromedia Director Studio. It's simply the easiest way to create simple software on a platform today (that I know of). And the release of something similar for the Amiga would speed up the development of childrens software. A porting of Director Studio would maybe be possible, but I think there are room for improvements. Typical childrens software does not require complex routines or programming, just nice graphics and a good interface. Programming skills are usually what stops most people that want to develop software. A program like Director Studio removes this barrier. Also someone should think of updating the Discis CDTV storybook disks like Mud puddle and Thomas' Snowsuit.
